Reduce or Remove Wrinkles
In this post, you will learn how to reduce or remove wrinkles on a portrait with the Healing Brush. You can decide how much to reduce if image looks natural. Removing the wrinkles completely could seem unreal. Thus, reducing is better than removing in most cases.
Step 1: Add A Blank Layer And Adjust The Healing Brush
Add a blank layer from the layer panel at the bottom right of the screen.
Select the Healing Brush from Tools bar placed at left of the screen. If another tool is selected in its place, right click of left click for a while to see the related tools.
Adjust the Healing Brush options from option panel at top of the screen. Normal mode, Source: Sampled, Aligned unchecked and Sample: All Layers
Step 2: Use Good Texture To Heal Wrinkles
Healing Brush uses a chosen texture to paint over another. In this case, we will choose good texture close to the wrinkles by clicking on that area while holding Alt (Win) / Option (Mac) key. This way you can paint over the closest wrinkle by clicking and dragging on it. After releasing the mouse button the Healing Brush will use good skin to cover up that wrinkle. The important thing is that you need to pick good textures that are close to the wrinkles. Since, light, color and texture of the skin is not same everywhere, it is not wise to sample chin skin and use it on eye wrinkles. As always the main concern is that the portrait looks natural.
If the wrinkle is too long, picking multiple samples for Healing Brush is better. Similarly, if thickness of the wrinkle varies a lot, then change the Healing Brush size accordingly such that it is a bit bigger than the wrinkle. After this step:
Step 3: Change Blend Mode to Lighten and Reduce Opacity
Since wrinkles are usually darker than other parts of the skin, Lighten mode will bring out the good parts. Select it from layer panel right above the layers. After that reduce the opacity between 50%-70% so that image looks more natural.
This is how you can remove wrinkles of photos using Photoshop. You can learn this and much more from a professional photo editing course called Learn Photo Editing with more details. To see my learn photo editing review go to the main page . Thank you for reading!
